1. Who we are

Willston is operated by WESS EUROPE LTD (company number 14016022), a company registered in England and Wales with its registered office at 4 Princes Street, Mayfair, London, England, W1B 2LE.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Willston. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Willston. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Acceptable use

When you use Willston you agree to:

  • use the service only for writing your own life story or other content you have the right to create;
  • not impersonate other people or misrepresent your identity;
  • not upload or generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, hateful, or that infringes the rights of others;
  • not attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service or its underlying infrastructure;
  • not use the service to send spam or to misuse the AI features for purposes other than personal storytelling.

AI suggestions are advisory. You remain responsible for the content you publish or share, including any text generated with the help of AI.

4. AI suggestions

Willston uses third-party large language models (currently provided by OpenAI) to generate writing suggestions. These suggestions are interpretive: they may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or invented details and should not be treated as factual records. You are the author of your story; you decide what to keep, edit, or discard. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content.

5. Account and access

You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google. Email accounts must be verified before you can access the editor. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately.

6. Account termination and data deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the profile page (Profile → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your stories, chapters, AI suggestions, and uploaded images (including those stored in our S3 buckets). This action is irreversible.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we have reasonable grounds to believe you have breached these Terms or if required by law. Where possible we will notify you in advance.

7. Ownership and intellectual property

You retain ownership of the original story content you write. By uploading content to Willston you grant us a limited licence to host, store, display and process that content for the sole purpose of providing the service to you (including, where you ask for it, sending the relevant text to OpenAI to generate suggestions).

The Willston platform itself — including the application code, design, brand, prompt engineering, and the way AI features are integrated — is owned by WESS EUROPE LTD and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute it without our written permission.

8. Limitation of liability

Willston is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations not expressly set out in these Terms, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

9. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in features, processors, or applicable law. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
